A Sermatech Mobile Field Service Center (MFSC) is the fastest and most cost-effective method of applying protective coatings to large industrial gas turbine components, including compressor rotors and cases. By coating the entire assembled rotor on-site, we can reduce your outage costs by eliminating transportation & shipping time delays, minimizing risk by keeping components onsite all while improving the efficiency of your turbine.
 

Supported by a full metallurgical laboratory and qualified inspection personnel, a MFSC is equipped to apply SermeTel® coatings on rotors from the following industrial gas turbines:

  • ABB Type 8, 9, 11 & 13
  • GE Frame 3, 5, 6, 7 & 9
  • Siemens-Westinghouse W251, W301, W501 & W701

We also coat large steam turbine components with complex geometry on-site. Our MFSCs used for steam turbine applications are equipped to apply coatings using Gator-Gard®, conventional thermal spray, or high velocity oxy fueled (HVOF) technology.

Sermatech also offers turbine disk restoration services that successfully address "bucket rock," a condition typically found in gas turbines used for stand-by or peaking service. We can restore turbine disks on GE and Siemens-Westinghouse gas turbines in a variety of equipment configurations, including:

  • On individual disks or stacked rotors at one of our worldwide service centers
  • On-site on a stacked rotor that is removed from the unit
  • On-site without removing the rotor from its shell (for GE Frame 5 and 7, and Siemens Westinghouse W251 and W501 turbines.

Disk restoration with the rotor in place saves significant cost relative to the potential disassembly of the turbine and replacement of the disks and an estimated two to four weeks in downtime on a gas turbine when compared to disassembling the unit.

Sermatech has coated over 100 gas turbine rotors as well as numerous turbine disks and compressor cases throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
