SermeTel® Inorganic Coatings |
| |
The SermeTel family of inorganic coatings bond with metal substrates to create a ceramic/metallic composite layer that provides unsurpassed protection against corrosion, erosion, heat scaling, abrasion and wear. SermeTel coatings have been proven in use for decades on a wide variety of components made from steel, stainless steel, iron, nickel, titanium, and their alloys.
|
In applications of ferrous metals, SermeTel coatings containing aluminum provide sacrificial protection, preferentially corroding and eroding while leaving the substrate metal intact for greatly extended equipment life. SermeTel coatings can also impart a number of properties for specific applications, including nonstick properties, outstanding conductivity, thermal shock resistance, oxidation resistance, lubrication, adhesion, electrical/thermal insulation and more.
Metal components undergoing continuous and/or intermittent exposure to corrosive salt environments, caustic solvents, thermal shock conditions and/or extreme temperatures-from 375°F to 1400°F (190°C to 760°C)- are often excellent candidates for SermeTel protection. The coatings withstand the pressures of most industrial processes without cracking or peeling. They are also unaffected by oils, greases, fuels, hydraulic fluids and similar metals.
SermeTel products can provide smooth surfaces, achieve finishes of 10 micro-inches or less and are a cost-efficient and extremely effective solution for a wide range of challenges.
SermeTel 5380DP™ is ideal for use on components where the surface finish is critical, such as compressor airfoils and stator vanes. The coating also is well suited for any component with tight tolerances or where the potential for media entrapment is possible due to part configuration.
